In partnership with the Art Institute, explore how various styles of architecture, sculpture and landscapes interact to create a unique museum campus. We’ll visit both the interior and exterior of the museum including its newest addition, the critically acclaimed Modern Wing by Renzo Piano. The ticket price includes general admission to the Art Institute (for the tour and for one additional day).
We'll see how Neoclassical, mid century modern and contemporary architecture coexist, and how sculpture and landscape interact. Half of the walk will explore Renzo Piano's Modern Wing in detail, including the interior. Discover what the "flying carpet" does, what supports the soaring passerelles and how glass walls can be used in art galleries.
